Chase It
Set-up using the Diamond Gate structure.
The aim for the athlete is to roll, kick or throw the ball from the centre square (starting point) to travel through the gate.
They then have to chase and collect the ball, returning to the centre, and repeating the action.
Each gate completed scores a point.
The aim is to score as many points as possible in a one minute timeframe.
Extensions:
Size of the Diamond
Rather than returning to centre square each time (athletes can pass through one gate from another - and chase in the same way.
Why Chase It?
Tests direction of throw, strike or kick; depth or strength of throw strike or kick; athlete ability to chase, stop, collect and repeat.
For generic athlete testing, athletes can repeat the attempts with different impetus (ie 1 x throw, 1 x kick, 1 x roll) or each attempt can be with a different skill (depending on athlete / coach focus)
