Leap High
Athlete self-feeds by throwing ball above their head to a height enabling a jumping catch. A point is scored if the catch is made with two feet off the ground.
An additional point is scored if the catch is immediately followed by a throw against a wall / target area (in the same jump as the catch), A catch and throw before the feet touch the ground again equals 2 points.
Four different variations - a standing still leap and a small run throw and leap - both with a small ball and a large ball.
A next level extension (for an additional point each time) is for a catch to be made again after the ball rebounds from the wall or target area.
Why Leap High? The constraint is the high flight of the ball and the external understanding that feet must both be in the air to score points. Through this Athletes can explore types of jumps and body use to enhance height of leap.
Perception-Action - understanding flight, timing leap, exploring leap height, throw direction.
